What is Dance Movement Therapy?

Connecting body, mind, and emotion through movement.

Dance/Movement Therapy (DMT) is a holistic, body-based form of psychotherapy that uses movement to support emotional, cognitive, and physical integration.

It’s not about performing or “doing it right”—it’s about using the body’s natural language of movement to explore feelings, release tension, and foster self-awareness.

In a Dance/Movement Therapy session, movement becomes a pathway to healing—helping regulate the nervous system, increase mind-body connection, and build trust in yourself from the inside out.

Whether you move a lot or a little, DMT meets you where you are. No dance experience required—just a willingness to show up, breathe, and move.

Join Keli Laverty, Board Certified Dance/Movement Therapist and founder of Be Rooted Wellness Studio, for a movement experience that goes beyond exercise and into embodied healing.

Be Moved is a guided intuitive movement class designed to help you reconnect with your body, regulate your nervous system, and express what's within—without judgment, pressure, or performance. Each class offers space to explore how your body wants to move, release stored tension, and shift out of stress and overthinking into flow, presence, and possibility.

Rooted in somatic therapy, emotional safety, and sacred self-connection, this class invites you to come as you are and move how you feel. Whether you're feeling stuck, searching for clarity, or just need time to be with yourself—this is your place to pause, listen, and be moved.

No dance experience needed—just a willingness to show up and let your body lead.
